The ‘Sienna's Little Free Library’ at the Showground Farmers’ Market was officially opened by Kelly Vincent MLC in December. Kelly Vincent is the Dignity for Disability Party’s representative in South Australian Parliament. Little Free Libraries celebrate the love of books and operate on a "Take a book, Return a book" structure with set ups that are just big enough to hold 20-30 books that kids and adults can give and take.
Our Little Free Library is operated by market member Jewels Smith in honour of her daughter Sienna. Market Members are encouraged to borrow and donate books along the theme of the farmers’ market ie gardening, vegetables, cooking, flowers, herbs, baking etc. Please use one of the stickers provided at the library to put inside the cover of the book when you make a donation.
You can read more about Sienna's Little Free Library here and here
Also Sienna's Little Free Libraries recently received an award a Certificate of Distinction from Little Free Library.org the Charity it is registered with in USA..and it is on the world wide map for Little Free Library.
A special thanks to gardening presenter and writer Sophie Thomson for the donation of a copy of her book ‘From the Ground Up – A Complete Guide for South Australian Gardeners’ which she contributed to the library. Also, thank you to OzHarvest who also provided a copy of their ‘Urban Harvest’ cookbook. These and the many other donations ensured that the library got off to a great start.
